When I bought the 4003 it had a black pickguard, Perspex treble pickup surround and no pickup cover fitted. It came with the original parts except the surround, so I bought one and reverted it to standard.

Good man. Standard is the way to go...just a classic look.

It is reffered to as a 4001MMT. It is a replica of the paint job of McCartney in the 60's. He (Paul) got high and painted it up, looks pretty good!

For your temptation:
There is a ’04 Fireglo over at Leftybassist that have been listed for a while. Coincidently, someone seems to have shown interest just yesterday.
Also, one of the British dealers has two Mapleglo lefty 4001V63s, but the price is a bit extreme.

Naahh..I doubt if many folks at the shows are that into Ric minutia, paintjob was done for the show. The bass needed to look a certain way, and besides, from the cheap seats....
