197? Rick 4001 Bass question....

Post by mikefarriss »

Hello fellow bass players... I am new to this forum and I hope that you can help me out with a question...

I have a 197? Rick 4001 Bass... Original case, Flame Top Maple, Checkerboard inlay... It has a belt buckle scratch on the back and not other finish issues... What is this Bass worth?

It is an amazing bass - but it's not a '69, it's an early '73.

Yeah, beautiful indeed! The give-away is the shedua "skunk stripe." They didn't have that in 1969.

For the exact date, enter the serial number (including letters) into RIC's serial number decoder:

Once you have the year from the serial number - do a search on instruments with the same features in the RRF register.. Across the bottom of each entry will be the average sale values on Ebay...

You could also ad your bass to the register (with Pics) and across the bottom of the listing will be the same info on value.

If you share the SN here - one of us will add it to the register for you. :D :D :D

Lovely Bass... How does it sound

A completed listing search on ebay should give some results, add value on top for that Flame.

March-May '73 (going by the inlays)...and look, the elusive sharp-corner surround!

The surround really pin points this period, fantastic look. Thinking aloud, that dark strip of wood really splits things up here though.

It will be on the jack plate.

Going to the RIC serial number lookup link will show you pictures of what it looks like:
