Thinnest Necks On The 4001?

Post by WinstonTK »

What year(s) were the necks on the 4001 at their thinnest? I've seen some 1974's that seemed a bit more thin than most. Did they end up getting thicker as the decade wore on?

IMO the neck of the '74 is quite comfortable (also considering the width) in comparison to a '76 4001, '79 4001, '81 4001, '83 4003, and '97 4003 which I could all compare. Because of good reason I kept the '74 one. :D

since these beasts are pretty much hand made, any year of production could have thick and thin necks. my '64 is thin, my '68 is even thinner my '70 and and '75 are thin as my '64. so it varies.

The '71's that I've had were the thinnest front to back. They felt wide and flat.

The smallest all-around have been two '69's though.

instruments manufactured in late 60s, say 67, 68, 69, appear to have received very thin necks

John, you need to update the manufacture date on my 4001V63, it is April '98.

I will get you (eventually  ) the measurements for my 4004L.
