How old are these fotos from Lark Street? That shop is 3 miles from my house.

Me thinks it's not a white grain filler. The filler is supposed to be colourless. Could be that from the sanding some dust residues are kept in the grain and just fixed with the filler? That phenomenion is quite common and obvious on dark grainy wood (walnut, shedua) combined with bright wood (maple, alder) as it is the fact on the neck. You can probably avoid this only if you manually brush and vacuum clean the wood before applying the filler. Jingle-Jangle may know more...

It's on his web page under "Just in" so I think he has it now, it's a real 68. If I were that close I'd be eyeing it up. He used to be in Albany (on Larks Street) NY 30 minutes from where I am, I used to love looking at the Vintage stuff he has.

That looks like the same bass that was for sale in Japan a year ago or so. I believe they were asking about $5,900.00.

He wants a bit more for it now. I'd love to go over and "kick its tires" but I have no intention of buying it. I'm not good at camouflaging my intentions just for the chance to give it a test drive. If anyone is interested in it, I'd be more than happy to go over and see if I can get better fotos and get more info on it.

From what I hear he is a good Luthier and he sells and services Orange amps, which I have, so I can get a bit of a rapport going, I think. We talked on the phone about him installing a white nut on my 73 4001, when my other Luthier was being "difficult".

I would go check it out; he knows you are into Ricks so I can't imagine him being bothered by your tire-kicking.

Bought a '72 at Lark Street, nice guys, a little pricey but they have a ton of vintage Martins, old steels (Ricks too) and lots more.

Yeah, seemed very nice over the phone and they do know Rickenbacker's. They sell pretty high end gear as well. I guess I need to stop by and drive mtself nuts. I do have that 1980 Fender P bass that is doing nothing, except collecting dust here. Hmmmm.

If someone is interested, I'm willing to go over and noodle it! :D What a great excuse to handle a vintage instrument, "Hello, My name is Sepp and I represent a collector/musician that may be interested in purchasing this fine American crafted instrument". "Now let mm run my paws all over it, if you please."

man, I love my job!
