The neck has settled nicely and I did a little shimming on the E and A strings to cure the buzzing and get the action where I wanted. I have some bakelite powder and plan to fill and refile the nut to this height. Right now I have some thin card stock slivers in the nut to test how it plays before I commit to a more permanent solution.

There's a more permanent solution? That is how I had my 4005WB for years, as the slots were worn pretty far down from decades of roundwound strings on it.

Mines all new though! I like the action low enough where I can crank the volume on the amp, still attack light to medium for that "thumpity thump thump" sound. Then dig in a little with the treble p'up a bit higher for a bit of "clankity clank clank". The last mode is to play aggressively with my thumb on the edge of the neck with the cap in and treble wide open for some serious fret buzz and "twangity growl growl BUZZZZZ".

This has taken some trial and error to get it where I am happy with it. Too bad some refuse to take the time to learn how to do their own setup. I've found it almost as rewarding as learning a new song. Really makes your bass your own!
