was the fretboard refinished without pulling the frets, or was a full refret/refinish done? Not sure by looking at your pics what is going on there.

Re: My 1st project Bass NBD
Well here's an update. Primer coat was sprayed on this weekend. This Bass had been abused by previous owners but its getting some much need TLC now. I really wanted to repace the binding with Checkerboard but it just wasnt possible. When it was stripped in the first place, the guy did a lousy job of sanding so there are a lot of scratches. Its going to take some doing to get that straightened out.
Bit by bit its coming..

Paul he started with a lacquer acetone based sealer and then an acetone based primer.

Acetone-based could be either lacquer (single component) or polyester (catalyzing) primer.
The catalyzing polyester primers are the best, by far.

Wait'll it's clearcoated if you think it looks good now...clearcoat has an amazing effect on metallics!
Re: My 1st project Bass NBD
Your project is starting to look great. Wish I could find one for that price.
great score
It's hard to beleive somebody would abuse a Ricky In such a manner, what were they thinking
? Can't wait to see her in her sparkling evening gown.
keep up the good work

Very cool color choice. Since its not a stock finish,, what are your thoughts for the plastic? A white pearloid guard like Jeff Scott put on his Jetglo would look hot.

For the time being I am going to put all the original pieces back on the bass. Once its all back together and I can play it to determine just how "nice of a bass" it is, I will make further decisions regarding the restoration. (New Plastic, re-chroming etc.) If its not a good player then I'll probably just leave it as is. I know one thing is the TRC is cracked and will not look good on it but the cost of replacement might be too much.
