Yeah, it was a bittersweet night and a complete surprise from my amazing wife. I've actually been posting over at the Rickenbacker "just basses" forum about the bass as well because I was actually considering exchanging the bass for a cheaper model. She knows what kind of McCartney freak (does anybody else suffer from this??)I am, and so she purchased the 4001c64s model. I couldn't believe how expensive it was. Keep in mind, while I'm a competent guitarist and okay singer, I'm a new bass player. So to have such an amazing instrument, while totally cool, is also kind of making me a bit guilty. As someone over at that other forum said "you could've taken your wife on a good vacation for that kind of money"- So true.
I'm going to hang onto it with her complete blessing and I cannot wait to play it live. It's being "set up" at the moment as the action was a bit high for me and I didn't trust myself to do it. The original poster, let's call him "Larry"
By the way, just to say this- I've met so many musician's wives that have the whole "when are you going to give up this silly music stuff?". My wife is SO not that way. In fact, she bought me a Strat the first year we were together and a Ric 360/12 for my 43rd bday. She truly supports my musical activities. An amazing girl!
Thanks "Larry", glad you had a good time!
I couldn't seem to post the photo inline to this post, so here's a link.
