WERE ALL ANGLICAN .

RJHC: I confess to listening to The Searchers religiously.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Both John McNally and Mike Pender are Roman Catholics. I have an article about them which appeared in a Roman Catholic newspaper during the SIRE period.

Liverpool, over the years, was a destination for many Irish immigrants and became well known as an Irish Catholic enclave. I believe Manchester to a degree also. Besides Gerry, Peter Noone, and John and Mike from the Searchers, at least half the Beatles, Paul and George, were baptized as Catholics. I'd say there was some Catholicism in John Lennon's backround as his dad Freddie was, I believe, from Dublin originally. In fact, its historically documented that the Beatles and their early incarnations (Quarrymen, Moondogs, Silver Beatles) played many a Catholic Social Hall in and around Liverpool. I'm sure The Searchers played some of the same venues. So...its not unusual to see a strong Catholic presence among the great Northern beat groups.
Any bets on Freddie Garrity??
