I only do that on the thicker sounding 4003s5 bass ... the 4003s5 has a treble pickup that is over wound to something like 16k ohms +/- ... this makes the 4003s5 a little thicker sounding ... I have 2 s5 basses one I put a jazz pickup in mute cavity ... the other has the finish stripped off and an oil finish applied ... this reduces the mass of the bass and changes the tone ...

Guys: As innocent as this may seem, this topic has reached the outer limits of acceptible decorum on this G-rated site. I don't want to be forced to edit posts. May we please return to photos of you "playing your Ric."
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Tim...next time hand the girl your Ricky FIRST, and THEN take the picture. Then again, we could just start a new thread. We'll call it "Chicks with Ricks".

God..

The amount of pics I have with girls at gigs + my 4000's...

Somehow this place seems to be above all that, however. It ain't harmony central. ;)

I'm the KING of pulling chicks... with Rics... anyway. Image

Are you sure? How come the neck pickup on the Rick bass is one inch away from the fretboard?
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
