THE STONE ROSES...

Post by BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS »

was watching seven ages of rock on vh1 classics about brit indie bands. the stone roses bassist has a '60's 4005 that in some vids is a mapleglo which i think was later psycopainted . the neck is still mapleglo though.

I was going to do a psycho paint job on my Jetglo 4005WB and then woke up and sold the bass, instead!

Gary 'Mani' Mounfield also played a model 3000 bass (and maybe a 3001?) towards the end of the Roses and then later when he joined Primal Scream. Great bassist!

'I wanna be adored' is still one of my favourite songs by this band, love that bass riff.

I'm pretty psyched that these guys decided to bury the hatchet and tour again...with the possibility of new material being recorded 8) I really thought they were gone for good.

Yeah, I regularly find myself playing that bass riff on the low E of my 6-string!

Thanks for the You Tube clip: one of my favorite indie-rock bands of all time, woefully underrated :(. Great melodies, lovely hooks, and a nice jangly guitar sound. Good news that they're touring again. And let's hope for a new record! 8)

Was "Second Coming" all that great? I liked some of it, but it kind of spoiled their iconic, legendary status. With that first and only album The Stone Roses could legitimately be called one of music's all time greatest bands. The long delayed and weak second album took that status away and made them seem human. Imagine what a third album will do.

I saw them live some weeks ago. Mani now plays two Epiphone Jack Casady's and a Gibson SG Bass. (so not an EB3, but a modern one)

So how was the concert ? Was it good ? Did they play new songs ?
I loved their 1st album when it came out, "second coming" not so much.
I think they could have belong to the "only one great album club" just like the Las...

Mani sounded and played really great with his Jack Casadys, Reni played and sung very well and John was great too. Vocals were bad ofcourse, but I expected that;) It was nice to see it was just the four of 'm and no extra keys and stuff.
Good show, but no encore, cos Renu ran away in anger.

I guess it was the Amsterdam show ?
In the NME they say "The Stone Roses confirm all future shows after Ian Brown calls Reni a 'c**t' onstage".

That kinda reminds me Oasis...
