Martyn,

Forgive me for a possibly ignorant question, but have you considered trying a Stetsbar? (http://stetsbar.com/) They're supposed to be the easiest to install, and they reportedly have great tuning stability.

I can see that on a 650, not sure how it would work as a replacement for the Rickenbacker semi-floating bridge used on the 620, 660 and 300-series guitars.

you can't get a stetsbar on a Ric unless it has a fixed bridge as the man says, and even then you're going to need to install a tune-o-matic.

Basically there isn't currently a workable vibrato system for Rics outside of the Bigsby IMO, which is a shame. would be great to have a vib adaptation of the R tailpiece
