Re: Vapors
Pretty sure the great bass sound can be attributed to producer Vic Smith, same guy who produced the early Jam albums, same bass tone.
Re: Vapors
I totally agree the bass has that gravel punch thats cuts through.More or less the same as foxtons mind you i suppose he did co-manage the group with John Weller.iamthebassman wrote:Pretty sure the great bass sound can be attributed to producer Vic Smith, same guy who produced the early Jam albums, same bass tone.

Love that you tell that it's a Rickie Bass without even seeing the video

"Letter from Hiro" is one of my favorite Ric bass sounds from "New Clear Days":
"Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect." Vince Lombardi
Re: Vapors
the vapors were a great band live, fond memories of them supporting the Jam back in 79 or 80 at the rainbow theatre london, still occasionally listen to a very scratched 'here comes the judge' live
Re: Vapors
I haven't heard more than a few of their songs, but the RIC bass sound is unmistakeable, and some of the best recorded i've ever heard.
