well I just joined a new band so no gigs yet as I'm still learning the material but they did play a few gigs last month with their old bass player. I'm hoping to be able to play a show with these guys ASAP though. The other band I play in isn't really going anywhere due to lack of member retention/finding people in the first place so I don't know if I'll ever get to gig with that band.

so yeah as of right now not gigging at all but like I said I'm hoping to remedy that situation quickly.

Yes indeed.

More specifically regarding my rig, it's a 2x10 combo with that R600 head. That weighs about 80 pounds, IIRC. My extension 1x15 cab is originally also a combo. When I remove the 160 watt head, it weighs about 35 pounds or so. Real back savers!

I've mentioned this in other threads, but this rig is great to use with RIC-o-sound because of the head's built-in crossover. I send the neck pickup to this rig, and the crossover sends lows to the 1x15 and mids to the 2x10. The bridge pickup, cap engaged, goes through an effects processor to a guitar amp eq'd to favor HIs. This gives me a nice solid fundamental with some fuzz or chorus, etc...over the top. It really sounds great!

I'm using the MB15 combo which has the BX250 head as it's power source. The tonal possibilities with this head are amazing and it has built in compression. It's 200 watts on it's own and 250 watts with an extention cab. In my case, the Bag End S15 works perfectly and really makes up for the lack of bass from the small cab of the combo.
The head can be purchased on it's own. This is plenty loud. I recently played with a band that had two drummers (think Allman Bros) and it kept up fine. There's also DI out if needed.
If you need more power you could always go with the BX500. I'd recommend Carvin....as others have said, "good bang for the buck".

I have a B2000 with a 2x15 cab... got it like in '74. And still like it. It is SS and sounds sorta like a Bassman. when running ROS I use it for the neck pickup.

Yeah, aren't tube amps only for guitar players?

us bass players use our big tube amps for keeping the basement warm...which in turn, heats the whole house . a warm main floor is a happy floor !!! in my case it's like exposing a nuclear reactor core down there !!!

Tell me about that Fender 400 PS amp and cab. You can see what appear to be two cabs for the 400 PS in the Wingspan documentary, but I haven't noticed the amp head on stage with them.

the 400 ps is a great piece of work. 435 watts,three separate output transformers for full power (2 tubes per trans), but you can use 3 totally different cabinets at the same time...early form of bi-amping if you wish ! great idea. it's a '70. the cab is a folded 18" horn or "w" bin as some call them. that amp it running all the cabs in the pic at the moment !!! (no, sloop...not the premier !!! lol.)

I never used their bass heads, but I did use a Carvin 1x15 bass cab when I was on the road. Very nice sounding too... very well build as well.
