What "Vibrola" Technical Forum?

Good question John and "good eye" as they say. Had my eyes been working properly this event would not have occurred.

The data was lost in a file transfer this evening and I need to retrieve it from backup. I have a request in to Gil who has been on a holiday. Until it is reinstated some posters may notice a reduction in their post counts.

I will keep you posted. The error was mine and I apologize to all forum members, especially Paul Curmudge, for any inconvenience that it may cause until all of its files are retrieved.

I see some other streamlining and rearranging going on, too. Nice. 8)

Thanks Jeff, your comments with regard to the Forum are appreciated. This was, of course, a level of streamlining that was more than I bargained. I have heard from Gil and he will get to is as soon as he is able.

Peter, is this why the Vintage forum disappeared?

(although, "Modern Rickenbackers (1975 to present)" - ???)

Jeff: Thanks for noticing. The previous Rickenbacker Vintage forum is currently joined with the Rickenbacker Guitars forum presently as an experiment. There are a number of ways to do this. We may revert back depending on how it works out. There have been more topic areas than necessary for some time. I have a number of thoughts with regard to regrouping the information. There has only been one bass forum (more recently fretless too) since the beginning and it seems to have been all that has been necessary.

True that there are many ways to categorize all of this. Personally I love the Vintage forum being separate, but sometimes vintage topics are posted under Bass instead, for example. What if there were more subforums, such as:

Guitars
-Vintage
-Modern
-325s
-Steels
Basses
-Vintage
-Modern
-Fretless

Like the Marketplace, clicking "Guitar" would NOT lead to a general guitar forum, but would bring up subforums, one for Vintage discussion, one for Modern, maybe even the forums for Steels and such could be under here. Bass could have the same, plus the Fretless forum.

Just a thought. If you keep things the way they were that would be cool, too!

Jeff certainly you have offered another possibility that makes sense.

Then there are 12 strings, double necks, special editions, lapsteels, mandolins and so forth. RIC has produced such a variety of fine instruments it is difficult to provide a category for everything,

I thank you for your comments, certainly food for thought.

Jeff: Just to keep all of the options open. I have reopened Vintage Rickenbackers so that the restore will work be easiest. should we decide to go back.

Jeff: Trying to separate the different categories for guitars is going to be far too difficult. As I looked over many of the posts in both vintage and modern forums there was much information that was improperly placed.

I am going to restore the Vibrola to its previous splendor but Rickenbacker Guitars will be the new kid on the block for vintage and modern instruments.
