Toasters , Hi-Gains or Humbuckers ?
If Rickenbacker suddenly offered their dealers the option of pickups when they ordered their guitars..( they could just check a box ) - and the guitar would be sent from the factory with the selected pickup. No difference in cost.
That would mean they'd be available as normal inventory - outfitted with 7.5k Toasters.. Hi-Gains.. 10k Toasters ( or whatever the actual value is of the Hot Toaster) or Humbuckers
We as customers could just pull guitars off the wall. or order online our choice of the guitar with the pickup of our choice. No up charge.. or no ordering Pickups after the fact and having to likely pay to have them installed.. ( some of us could do it ourselves. )
What would ya pick ? if were just a matter of choice. ? ( 6 string.. 12 string.. all shoved into the heap )
** I don' recall seeing this poll before.. so I hope it's not a dupe of something prior or recent. If it is: moderator.. you can remove the poll/post.

Interesting responses already
and I can see there is a dividing line.. between 6 strings.. and 12 strings. maybe a poll for another day
will be interesting to see where the Pickup Love lands.. amongst the most Rickenbacker informed group of people.. on the planet.

Mid '80s, fiber-topped Hi-Gains please.
Jangle, Chime & Twang.
Re: Toasters , Hi-Gains or Humbuckers ?
Since 6 and 12 string guitars are lumped into the same category, I'll go with hi-gains. Ask me if I had it to do over again, what would I put on a 12 string, 7.4k toasters or hi-gains, and I'd be hard pressed to make a decision.

7,5k toasters - I love the throaty sound of them.
BTW: What was the resistance in the 60/ 70's?

According to John Hall http://www.rickresource.com/rrp/JHpickupanswers.html the resistance varied anywhere from 7K to 16K, though most folks on this forum gravitate toward 7.4K as providing that "vintage 60s" sound.
