Left handed production re-starts?

Post by Carlos13 »

I've searched for a thread on this topic, with no luck. If there is one, please could someone link to it? If there isn't, why on earth not!? :D

Must be the biggest news for years. For us lefties at least!

There's a thread about it on leftybassist.com, which links the the 'official' RIC Facebook page. I checked, and it was posted well in advance of April 1st...

Carl, thanks for the comment.

It seems that the information has not landed on the RRF with any fanfare as yet. As you say, however, this is very big news for those southpaws who have been chomping at the bit to get a new left-handed Rickenbacker. Only about 2% of those instruments that we have in our Register are left handed, divided almost equally between guitars and basses.

I hope you will be one of the first on the list to get one. :)

No mention on the "Recent News" page of RIC's corporate website.

Yes, it doesn't seem to have been updated for over two years.

This was announced awhile back to our overseas distributors, who have now filled our current left handed production order book. Some of the first ones will also be available at Guitar Center but only in the Platinum Room store locations.

A general US announcement was not made previously given that we're already maxxed out.

I've got two already, but they're both Jetglo. I prefer Fireglo and Mapleglo. Time to give Rosetti a call to see if there are any slots...

So, Guitar Center is off the "bad boy" list? Congrats!

Only the 30 Guitar Center Platinum rooms apparently...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

They've been asking to be dealers for awhile now and also agreed to play by our rules. They've had some major changes in management that makes this possible.

That's correct. We want to see if they'll abide by our policies for awhile before we do anything further and also that's about all the business we can handle right now anyway. We quite literally had to put an annual cap on the number of orders we would accept from them.

I'm a lefty and i've been after a left handed 330 or 360 for literally years. It seems whenever one comes up i miss it by hours.

I heard from somewhere last week that lefty production had started again and placed an order for a 330, 360 and a 660 this weekend. Apparently Ric aren't making the 660 in lefty which is a shame as i was really looking forward to that. I hope my order has gotten through after John noted that the order book was maxxed out.

We will get around to the 660 LH, probably later this year or early 2013. We wanted to focus initially on the three top selling models, then move on down the list from there.

That's awesome news, to be honest i'm glad that any of the lefty models are going into production right now but i'll remember that and try and put an order in later in the year, would love a Ruby 660.

I would really like to get my hands on a lefty 660 (six string). I did have an '08 660/12 LH FG, but sold it last year.
