Yep...the dreadful armpit of the Great Lakes that I regretfully call home. I live on the far west side of Cleveland (which is very nice actually) and work for the city in the ghetto so I may be a little jaded due to the poor administration and high taxes with subpar city services.....ah, the joys of residency! The first pic is from Backstreets Cafe in Mentor. We had two gigs over the summer at the Scene Pavillion which went really well for us (second pic) and we have one in January at the new House of Blues that they are opening downtown.

My band, Rare Blend, has a gig next weekend at the Riverfront Coffeehouse in Cuyahoga Falls and then it is off to Baltimore for a gig with Tunnels. I live in the Cleveland Hts./South Euclid area.

The gig at the coffeehouse went quite well. When we got there there were placards on the tables listing us as a folk/rock group! It turned out that the audience was glad there was not "another folk band". Me with my 4003FL along with Bobbi, our keyboardist/singer:

Yes on all accounts!

As far as the "shoes", with a fretless I find it useful to have access to to the strings above the bridge toaster for maximun effect. Now on a fretted bass that's a different story.

If its the vintage look that your looking for, I'd go with the vintage PU surround.

a bit pricey from Mike Parks, but what the heck.

I thought about that but since it doesn't have horseshoes and vintage basses do have a similar surround to mine I'll keep it it this way. Even the first 4000s were more like the current surrounds.
