Ric strings for a 12 stringer
On recent trip to several guitar shops I was interested to see what strings were available for my Ric 12 stringer. Boy what a disappointment! When I mentioned Pyramid, Rickenbacker etc the response was poor. It's D'Addario or nothing. Can anyone point to where I can get Rickenbacker strings, but I'm not interested in having to buy a huge quantity in order to get them shipped to Australia. Any suggestions or is it D'Addarios?
Life wasn't meant to be easy
Ron, I'll check to see whether I have a spare set of the Rickenbacker strings at home later today (Pacific Time Zone, USA). If I do I'd be glad to mail a set to you to help out a fellow Forumer. I do have a set of Pyramids, if you'd like to try them out, too.
By the way, I am using a set of D'Addario flatwounds on my 460 (six-string), and I love them. If D'Addario's 12-string set is of comparable quality, then they would be a good alternative. maybe someone here in the Forum has used them and can tell us what they are like.

I prefer the RIC 12 string set because the feel smoother than regular roundwound strings. I guess it's the fact that they are "compressed"?
But as we all know, not many stores stock RIC strings. So often I buy singles in the gauges as the stock RIC set.
More often than not they end up being Ernie Balls, and they work just fine.
It's just important to use the same gauge as the RIC set.
I tried the pyramids, and I know this may be heresy, but I hated 'em!
