John is having a rest on a park bench in Havanna...
So I sat beside him ...
Before we took the pictures an old man came by and mumbled somethig spanish , he supplied the glasses for a CUC (Cuban money) ! He waits til someone comes along to take pictures , thus earning his money.
Nobody could tell us the story behind , who made this bronze sculpture or when it was made. Cuban people said they like John's spirit for freedom.
I know that some of you guys love vintage cars, go to Havanna !
Music all around...a fine old short neck 12 string acoustic, does anybody know more about these ?
John Lennon in Havanna
Re: John Lennon in Havanna
I was in Havana, Cuba in 2008 doing historical research. Whatever one's politics, it is a beautiful city and a great population of really cool people. Live music is everywhere, no CD players piping in cheap, sterile music. I wish I had known about that Lennon staute! I wonder if they meant to put up a staute to Lenin??

Damn!!!
When was this, Alex? Why wasn't I told? Why didn't you call me?
I would have been there in a heartbeat.
Ilse looking spectacular as always.
Are we still looking at meeting up in Vienna in 2013?

Hi Aitch !
Sorry that I didn't give you a note asking for permission
We spent the first two April weeks in Cuba meeting our daughter there (coming from Costa Rica).
It was one memorable trip !
BTW : lots of Canadians and British people are spending their vacation there.
Some cubans speak a bit german from the days when they could visit aund study in the DDR at that times.
Last day was my b-day April 15, so that trip was kind of a benefit for my old bones.
Of course Vienna (and Bavaria) is on our schedule 2013, did you book already ?

OK then.... you're excused.
I haven't booked anything yet, Alex - it's a little early for that. I'll be sure to consult you before I do, however.
