Those are three of the best sounding stand alone amps in my humble opinion Jeff. I unfortunately have no experience with WW...just don't have pockets that deep....This does not include bass amps, like the GK 400RB, two GK 700RBs, Eden WT 400, or three Walter Woods amps.
What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?

Jeff, the F1-X is the Cat's Meow IMHO, the Ampeg sounds just as good but is a bit hissy but it is an older preamp. I love the SWR but it sounds very boxy compared to the two below it. The Yamaha is like the GK 800RB of preamps in my opinion.....it just sounds great while having no real distinguishable aspect that makes it wound unique. I love the Trace too and find it a very capable preamp for live gigging in that it is easy to adjust on the fly and set it for each gig without a lot of hassle....the F1-X is great for that too.
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
Some of the older WW amps go for very reasonable $$$, occasionally. The one I have now I bought new, but the other two were found for about what a new 700RB-II sells for. You should come over some day and check the Super out and my two LDS cabinets, also.

Well, I guess at this point, this is the Rickenbacker I use with my bass....or will be, soon enough....

Welcome to the forum James! Those are the coolest amps ever made.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
Yeah, I am really enjoying it. I still have some finishing up to do with it, including getting the cart done. I have the wood base, but have it off to clean it up. Will post some more pics when I have it farther along.

These are all interesting rigs-I'm still reading through them all....I'm leaning towards the Mesa M-Pulse Walkabout with a 4x10 Vintage Powerhouse Bass Cab. I don't know why I thought one speaker was a good idea. This Carvin has never let me down though and I will keep it for practice. I love Mesa stuff.

I used a Hartke 400wt head with a Carvin 1x15 cab. Nowadays I use my old Fender BXR300C amp. That things heavy as **** but sounds great.
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
Swr Redhead 400Watts w/tube preamp (and tube DI for reccording), Sheffield speakers in then head and a goliath bottom for 8x10 total for large gigs or just the 2 x10" for smaller clubs. plenty of power the combo is what i use most of the time. weight still around 90lbs so no light weight here thanks for built in casters.
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
1966 Rick 4005 Mapleglo with a new Micromark 801 great sound for a very small amp, less than 11 lbs and puts out about 50 watts
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
Amplified Music Products BH-420 head with an Eden D210XLT bottom. For really large spaces I add a Carvin BRX 10.4 Neo .
Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
I'm now using an Eden 410XLT along with my Eden Nemesis. It's enough power for home, and will do until I venture out. I do have my trusty '72 Marshall Super Lead (yes, I plug darn near anything into that thing and it's great) and a 4x12 with G12M70's that sounds quite good with the Rick.

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?
Wow, I used a 100W Super Lead as a bass amp for many years, with an 18 in a folded horn (home-built copy of a Sunn 118MH). Plenty loud enough for small club gigs, assuming you like the sound of a Marshall pushed into distortion, which I do.JWR wrote:I do have my trusty '72 Marshall Super Lead (yes, I plug darn near anything into that thing and it's great) and a 4x12 with G12M70's that sounds quite good with the Rick.
I always used the trick of patching the two channels together (plug the bass into one input jack of one channel, connect a short patch from the other jack of that channel to the input of the other channel). That folded horn cabinet didn't let out a lot of high end
Turn on, tune up, rock out!

I have one of those in my old Princeton Reverb Amp, great tone.JWR wrote:...with G12M70's that sounds quite good with the Rick.
