Notice that the earlier one (#12) has the "crowded" pickup arrangement. It was built when the factory was making the other 4004 models with the "neck" and "bridge" pickups in the "dropped" position closer to the bridge (1999-2004). This Lemmy has the neck and bridge pickups in those same positions, with the third pickup centered between them. It appears the majority of the Lemmies were made in the 2004-2006 timeframe with the pickups spread out more, including the neck pickup right up against the fingerboard. This configuration allowed access to the body ends of the truss rods in case they had to be replaced.

Hey Paul, do you remember the NAMM "LK" with only two pickups with the interim spacing? Pretty cool prototype (or whatever it was).

Yep, and I show that two-pickup Lemmy prototype in the book as well.

I love these basses they look so great! Yet as I look at the photos, All that keeps playing thru my mind is the line in "Magic Bus">>>> I want it ,I want it ,I want it,---------Can't have it!! :roll: :lol:
