Finish lift issue
Hi
I am new to the forum as I have just purchased by first Rickenbacker! It's a 2011 360 in Fireglow and I am very impressed so far. I am blown away by the tone from those Hi gain pickups in particular.
I have noticed a slight problem however on the finish around the frets. It seems to have lifted a little. Is this a common Ric problem? I have a Tele with a maple neck that has done something similar, but on the side of the neck on the fret ends.

Thanks

Re: Finish lift issue
I believe this is common for any guitar with a finished fretboard. If you look close enough, you could probably find some finish lift, around at least the fret ends, of any guitar (Finish just isn't going to stick to metal as it does to wood). Well, it's true of every guitar that I've ever owned and it's never become a problem. Welcome to the forum and have some fun with your new 360.

Re: Finish lift issue
Yea, I got this on my Ric 330 and it's not a problem....I haven't paid it any attention and I'm normally fussy on things like that.
Re: Finish lift issue
Thanks guys. Made me feel a lot better. I am a little OCD with my guitars.
Thanks for the warm welcome too! Got the Ric bug now so I'm already gassing for another. 330 or 620 is on the cards next....

Re: Finish lift issue
I have the same issue with my bass. Mine is a refinished fretboard. Must have something to do with the unequal expansion between the frets and the wood. I wonder what could have been done to prevent it (during the refinish), and is this something you can wet sand out. I'll probably just leave it as it's not a big deal and not noticeable unless you are close and looking for it.

They are very tempting. What are the tonal differences compared to a 360 say?Clint wrote:620.

I was going to as the same thing, as that is happening to my 650C. I'm glad to hear there is nothing to worry about.Thank you for the insight
