Paul Weller . . .

Post by bassduke49 »

. . . is on Fallon tonight. I suppose Andy Lewis will be playing bass, usually a Rick 4004! Will DVR and see in the morning.

Peter Weller's a renaissance man...and I'm not talking about the band.
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

He's indicating that Paul Weller is not to be confused with the band Renaissance which is of interest to Rick bass players as bassist Jon Camp used one (or several) for some time:

Yes, but the thread title is Peter Weller (an actor), not Paul Weller.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

DOH!

Peter, Paul, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!

My bad, I meant Paul Weller (ex The Jam). I think I'm starting to lose it -- but I don't know what "it" is!

I have edited the title to the proper name. I guess you had a blond moment with Paul being too obvious as being your own name as well. The reason why Andy's 4004Cii looks reddish is because he has two of them. A Montezuma Brown with the pickups shifted towards the bridge (interim position) and a Trans Red Cii with the pickups in the current position (towards the neck).

In the vid that Paul posted, Andy Lewis is playing this gorgeous 4004Cii MB with the pickups towards the bridge, that was sold on ebay a few years ago.

Andy also uses this Trans Red 4004Cii, with pickups towards the neck. He must take advantage of each one having the pickups placed differently, depending on the song. Nice to see a pro bassist using a standard production 4004.

Not sure if anyone is aware but Andy Lewis released a great track featuring Paul Weller on vocals a few years back.
I have a couple of mate's who used to own a Classic Scooter shop in Brick Lane, London. They both knew Andy as a friend from his D.J days before he hooked up with Weller.
They told me he's one of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet, and after Weller featured on his track he offered him the Bass Playing gig in his band after he got rid of Damon Minchella (previously of Ocean Colour Scene).

Anyway, next time you're on YouTube check out 'Are You Trying To Be Lonely' by Andy Lewis.

And here's a link to the song 'Are You Trying To Be Lonely' by Andy Lewis featuring Paul Weller:

And another couple of artists that had Weller providing guest vocals that folks in the States may not have heard

Noonday Underground feat Paul Weller - I'll Walk Right On:

Death In Vegas feat Paul Weller - So You Say You Lost You're Baby:
