Re: How can Rickenbacker be so back logged
Well, it was said that "overseas distributors" filled the order books, which would be Rosetti Limited for the UK:
Rosetti Limited, 4 Blackwell Dr., Braintree, Essex, CM7 2QJ
Tel: +44-1376-550033 Fax: 44-1376-550042
Email: [email protected]
But I suppose, since the UK is not the only place that would be "overseas" from the US, perhaps it was all the rest of 'em and Rosetti didn't get in on it. Hopefully that's not the case, but maybe if you call them, they would have some idea...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: How can Rickenbacker be so back logged
No such thing as overseas dealers- they're distributors, one step removed from the dealers, which likely explains the disconnect. Anyway, at least as far as these first batches are concerned, we're making no effort to publicize it until we see how it goes.Baker69 wrote:If the overseas dealerships have filled the order books/allocation then I don't know where they're going to?
Re: How can Rickenbacker be so back logged
I guess I have it pretty good as far as Rics are concerned. I don't play left handed (although I am a lefty) and I live in NY.
Wondering out loud if the other manufacturers have a decent supply of lefty instruments
As far as celebrities using them, I'd check out the artist section here. Most every band worthwhile seems to have at least someone who dabbles in Rics with them. Tons of the Indie bands I go to see make use of them as well.
My friend decided he wanted one last week. So, he went into a music store and came home with a wonderful brand new Jetglo. Ahhh to live in NY. As far as the rest of the US, I looked online and many retailers have them in stock. Overseas? Honestly, I wouldn't know the first thing about searching for distributors there. My heart goes out to thee.

Re: How can Rickenbacker be so back logged
So far as getting a lefty rick goes from the UK it was very very hard. I spent long hours searching online and calling guitar shops all over the world chasing them and missing them almost every time and often the ones that did have stock were priced quite high.
I recently moved to the USA and happend to be in the right place at the right time when i heard about lefty production starting and placed an order for my three dream Rick guitars figuring i had a wait on my hands but i got lucky and got one almost right away, i've no idea how long those other two will take (and the extra one i'd like to order...660 LH FG!!) but i'm fine with waiting because they're the instruments i want. I'd rather wait and get the quality instruments that i've aspired to all these years.
Were i still in the UK it would be a different story as almost no one will accept orders or talk to you about lefty instruments, all i ever got told was that Rick weren't producing lefties anymore. I'm pretty sure i only heard about lefty production on this forum, just after i moved to VA.
It's hard being a lefty as most manufacturers don't offer the whole line in lefty, or the ones they do they don't offer in many variations. But if i put myself in there place, why would they? The lefty market must be tiny. Someone told me recently that Taylor are the only manufacturer to produce all there Guitars in both left and right handed models (this is unsubstantiated). I'm very pleased that Rick are making more lefties, even if you've not got one on order feel good that more will be floating around ready to be snapped up, just make sure you're watching.
NOTE: Very nice looking 360/12 on ebay right now, think it's in Australia and seems to be strung for a righty for some reason. But still, they're out there.

I went to my local dealer yesterday. There were no lefties but plenty of Ricks including three 4003s with one being Ruby, plus all kinds of guitars.

Ugh,
I live in a Rickenbacker no-mans land.
Ten years in Florida, and I've never seen ONE BRAND NEW RIC in a store and only one used one.
BIG DIFFERENCE from when I lived back on Long Island.

Same here, 'course, I've got to drive over 500 miles just to find a RIC dealer...ajish4 wrote:Ugh,

A bit of a broad brush/overstatement:wings012345 wrote:Is because its a small shop?? You hardley ever see anyone playing a Rick out in a club. If so, Its def a rare sighting. You hardley see any Celeb artists playing them. So Who is buying all these instruments and where are they. Just curious. Being a lefty Rick player you feel the pain more. Price will always be higher because production is slow.
Locally, here in So Cal, Joey, Scott, Jerry, Brad, Rick, and I, just off the top of my head, are all club-gigging musicians who play Ricks. I gig 3-4 times per month; I generally bring and play at least two Rickenbackers to every show. . .
Celebs... hmm, off the top of my head:
Petty just bought a couple, and IIRC, so did Mike Campbell
The Edge just bought one
Paul Weller's bassist plays a 4004 quite frequently
Kasabian plays one
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Susanna Hoffs plays a couple quite regularly
The Editors play two
I've also seen a 330 and a 4003 in the hands of Interpol members
I'm probably leaving out quite a bit, but those folks are all celeb artists to one extent or another. Recall too that Rick doesn't do endorsements like Fender and Gibson, which is why you don't see groups like the Jonas Brothers kitted out with Ricks (not knocking them, just couldn't help but notice that they appeared to be Gibson-endorsed).....

There is no reason to ever be bored.

There are no left-handed pianos....heinpete wrote:...as a leftie waiting for a Rick, you might as well meanwhile train yourself to become a righty!

Re: How can Rickenbacker be so back logged
A few current bands with Ricks
Chris Urbanowicz with a 620 and Russell Leetch with a 4003.
Chris Wolstenholme with a 4003.
Andy Lewis with a 4004Cii. If he not using a 4004Cii, he's using a 3001, except for acoustic/unplugged gigs I think he uses an Epiphone Jack Cassidy signature model.
Chris Walla with a 360.
Paul Wilson with a 4003LH.

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Robin Zander of Cheap Trick plays a Rick fairly regularly.
