Just to be clear, it's not that they have Platinum stores, but rather stores that have Platinum showrooms. Obviously they've done some form of demographic study to determine which stores should have that feature.
Thanks for clarifying that John,

I've only been in TWO GC stores, the one in West Palm Beach....and it was OLD & DINGY.
Dirty old stained carpets, ceiling tiles all water stained and kinda falling down, poorly lit, its pretty small, and just plain seedy.

But just a few weeks ago, I had to run in the one in Sarasota for a cable, and it was NEW, BIG, actually....just a beautiful store. I even heard reference to a RECORDING STUDIO on the premise?!?!? Talk about night & day between the two stores. I wish I had more time, I had the Mrs in the car so I was moving double time. :(

MOST of my GC contact has been dealing online.

Well, that's about half right! We're *HOPING* to have brought the backlog down due to capacity increases by the time lefties are in full swing.
BuddyDog wrote:Well, good that Guitar Center is back on the dealer list. I don't know how many "Platinum" stores they have but I am certain the Fresno store isn't one of them. It's funny, I ordered a Gibson a few years ago from Guitar Center. When it was shipped it came from the "communal" Musician's Friend warehouse and had "Platinum" stickers all over the box. I guess they might have 1 or 2 in a brick & mortar and keep the rest in the warehouse til bought and shipped.
There's 30 stores with Platinum show rooms, each of which should be showing ten instruments. As I understand it, there won't be any goods in the warehouse. Their idea is to show photos of the actual instruments online, store by store to guide your selection. They won't be sold in the regular shops as we still simply can't fill the orders and we actually had to negotiate down a limit on how many guitars they could have each year.
I've been in contact with a couple of the Platinum room managers (found via the GC website) and neither knew about this. They seemed eager to find out and I expect they will get back to me, but I'm just trying to get in line. I suggested to them that they look at the RIC official facebook page for some confirmation. Seems like a memo should have been issued from GC Corporate or something. I shouldn't be rallying their salesforce, right? (tongue in cheek) The one manager was honest in telling me it was unlikely to get a Lefty as he hadn't seen any come through his store, ever. Now he's excited.

Anyway, thanks again from this southpaw. The picture of the that LH Ruby 12 stringer is great on your facebook page and those teasers behind it are worth a story someday, right? Lemmy Guitar? New 4005? Sure, right handed, but still great.

jamfanman, John noted earlier in this thread that: "This was announced awhile back to our overseas distributors, who have now filled our current left handed production order book".

Hopefully that includes some to the UK. I just moved to Virginia from the UK in January myself and getting my order in for my Ric's has been the best thing i've done so far. It was a lot more straightforward ordering them here than in the UK, cheaper too. Not to mention the insane luck of actually having one of them already just a few months after placing the order. Waiting to see if they'll accept orders for a 660 LH later this year.

I moved from Oxford at my employers request...why not, never lived in another country before. I do miss home though.

I'd sell a kidney before that guitar! Don't worry though mate you'll track one down eventually. It took me a long time but i got there eventually.

Lord have mercy...I am SO glad I got my left handed 330 Jetglo and 360/12 Fireglo in the mid 90's when the gettin' was good. I sold the 12 string and bought it back 13 years later...and never will sell a Rickenbacker again. I have beat the snot out of the 6 string in my 60's British Invasion band and go from gig to gig and only have to CHECK the tuning before we start...ALWAYS in tune. Get 'em while you can lefties!

Ah Oxford's a fine place, my cousin Jim comes from there, we meet up regular for Oxford United matches and mod revival bands, more about the beer than the football really!

just being greedy really, its just when one comes along you get the urge :D
