Here in the UK, some of us (me included) still remember him not as Richard – but as Dickie Dawson. English by birth, during the late 50s early 60s he could be seen on British TV as a stand-up comedian. However, on this side of the Atlantic, Richard Dawson will always be known not for what he later went on to achieve on American TV – which we were largely ignorant of here in the UK - but for the woman he was married to from 1959 to 1966. While American cinema had Marylyn Monroe, British cinema had Diana Dors.
