How to re-gauss a cranky Horseshoe

Post by weemac »

My RMs pickup is one of those horrible ones that will not re-gauss using the correct methods, here is how I get it to work:

Eden.
I confused Faraday's cage, with Schrodinger's cat box....

Cool vid!

Just wondering here: is there room to attach small bar magnets to the shoes down inside the cavity? That way you could just leave them in-place. :?:

Very cool Eden! Nice job!
I hope you don't mind that there will be some dummy storage sites that will embed it in their sites to help make them money. If I ever wanted to put in on my my site, I'd ask your permission first.

In other words, exactly what we did with the reissue pickups, when the type of available steel these days is non-gaussable (if that's a word). The horseshoes on the reissues are essentially the same as discharged vintage horseshoes.

I'm curious as to what would make modern steel "non-gaussable"? I personally like the current RIHS pickups and find that when playing with that peculiar technique that Squire uses with his right hand, I can get "the sound" without the original style pickups.

I would say, It's more down to production numbers and cost.

That doesn't make any sense since JH was talking about a basic material for which I don't believe production numbers would apply......steel.

You mean 'would have applied', 60's and before were all Horsey weren't they.
