They're one of those bands that I love when I hear, but have never invested the time to get into. I even have In Rainbows, and of course was in high school around when PH and OK C came out. I've even played High & Dry once.

Pablo Honey and The Bends (their first two albums) feature Rickenbacker instruments exensively, Thom Yorke also used one during that period. When they play those songs live he will still bring one out. OK Computer and the albums after it, like Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief, In Rainbows, etc. all mark an increasing shift twords experimental music. Pablo Honey and The Bends are dyed-in-the-wool indie/alternative rock.

Ah, or do we take this a step further and ask if George didn't get a Rickenbacker, would the Beatles have been able to make the sound that made them so famous?

The answer is, yes, they would have. I believe the official count is that George's Rickenbacker is only on eight songs.

Based from what *MY* ears hear:
I Call Your Name
A Hard Day's Night
I Should've Known Better
If I Fell
Happy Just to Dance With You
Can't Buy Me Love (chorus)
Any Time At All
Can't Do That
Eight Days a Week (intro and ending)
What You're Doing
Words of Love (maybe?)
I Need You
Ticket to Ride
If I Needed Someone
And Your Bird Can Sing (early takes)

John played a Framus Hootenanny 12-string and George double-tracked his Gretsch Tennessean, which some people (myself included) is the case with "Words of Love" and "She's a Woman".

Isn't the intro and solo on "Every Little Thing" a Rick 12?

If there isn't a 12 string Rickenbacker playing at my funeral, I'm leaving.

It was John on his custom 325/12, George only played acoustic.
