Finally....

Post by chefothefuture »

After 25 years of searching and having them slip away, I finally snag an ever elusive '71 :-)
I felt like "the old man" taking the leg lamp out of the crate when FedEx came...
And it is "indescribably beautiful; reminds me of the Fourth of July!".....

Congrats, John. That's a fine looking bass!

Now all you need is the lampshade . . .

Thats really nice, John!
How long have you been searching for a '71? And is there any particular reason you wanted a bass produced in this year?
Congrats!

That is a beautiful finish, really like the coloring and what looks like a very subtle fade . Congrats! Looking forward to reading more about it.

Thanks Ivan-
25 years searching...
Why one from this era? Hard to say. I first saw one in '85 and thought it was very cool. I liked the pink fireglo and the short head stock with walnut ears
though lacking the curves of the earlier ones, has a subtle grace all it's own.
Yeah, the necks are a little deeper and more "D" shaped than the mid to late '60s, but I like it just the same.

I do think the few I came across that slipped away likely heightened the "gotta" for me LOL!

Well, here are a couple more pics.
I need to get a better camera, but these should give a good idea of what the bass is all about....

And I know right where to put it! Right in the living room window!
