When I did an online piece for Premier Guitar magazine about a year ago, a guy contacted me and told me the guitar on the cover of the Rittor book was originally his and his father sold it without his knowledge. He had tracked it to Canada but the owner was not communicating. He gave me the serial no. -- AH585 -- and I found it entered in the Register.

Ah, of course!

I actually remember reading that guy's comment under the article. Pretty unusual comment to see!

Obviously the statuate of limitations was long gone on that one, nor was it illegally sold (especially if he was a minor), so good luck to him getting it back. Cool that he kept the serial number though.

Dude...we NEED to meet up when I come to LA next month, seriously. With the 381 and this new 365 for me to play, and I've got some stuff for you, too.

Congrats on this incredibly awesome score. Any differences between the 365 and the 1998 (aside from the extra pickup, oven/bakelite knobs and gold/white plastic)?

Well, it feels like a Rick... the fretboard radius is a little more pronounced than the 1998 (I think the deluxe models in general have a smaller radius, especially the earlier years). The Accent vibrato on this one is the best i've used on any vintage Rick. Real right and responsive..

The square neck heel of this '61 feels different than the 1998 as well, and the neck profile is slightly smaller.

I had an identical guitar when I was a teenager, but one fateful day I decided to sell it. I believe it might have been one of the rarest Ricks ever because it was made in 1962. Try and find a Capri made that year. I 've searched EVERYWHERE. The serial number was BH 404. Worst decision of my young life...

That's what I get Collin for spotting a great guitar pic and not reading the thread properly and all the way through..........hahahahaha. I am obviously out of practice.
