Interesting. I'm thinking the colour shading on your 1977 Autumnglo 4001 must be very similar to that used on the Sam Ash run of "Fireglo" Rose Morris 1993 reissues made in 1987. Take a look at the picture below where I've put a garden shot I took of one of the Sam Ash guitars next to your garden shot of the 4001. The light conditions are similar and the colour shading looks almost identical....

They do look similar there!

Must admit, mine in the flesh - front and rear - is brown edged, and quite a lightish brown in the centre, far more than the photo suggests. Does look 'fireglo-y', but the light has removed some of the brown-ness!

I'd say the Sam Ash guitars' colouring must be very similar. They too look more brown than red when you see them in the flesh. When I first saw the guitar in person there is no way I would have described it as Fireglo based on all the other Fireglo Ricks I've seen over the years. But it seems the factory definitely designated it as a bespoke shade of Fireglo for the Sam Ash order - see cavity shot below from the same guitar marked up as FG.
