On the topic of "scenes missing" I was SOOOOOO bummed when I got a copy of the Yessongs movie to discover that 'The Fish' had been omitted. I know that Squire was pretty secretive about his playing style & techniques early on; I have to wonder if it was his call to leave it out of the movie.
I have found some cool old stuff of Chris playing with Yes in the early 70's....really neat stuff. I also got Fish Out of Water last weekend.... LOVE IT! I have never heard it and I have probably had Fragile for 25 plus years. I am getting more educated on my missing Yes education since I bought all of the early Rush stuff that I had never heard before which led to a complete Rush discography purchase.
On a whim last night I got Genesis' "Nursery Crymes" and "Foxtrot". I had no real knowledge of Mike Rutherford as a Ric weilding bassist. My Genesis period began in the mid 80's. I really must say that I am really digging these early Gabrielle era recordings. Mike sounds great especially on tunes like "Get Em Out By Friday".
My Ric rebirth has led to a few hundred dollars of iTunes acquisitions. This is fun, I have not felt this eager about finidg "new" music for a decade or two!
Yessongs The Film is not directly cut from Yessongs the album. It is much shorter and some of the takes on the film are from different concerts entirely. Yours is no Disgrace, to cite one example, not the same version in the film as the record. Plenty of other examples after that one, Wakeman solo is very different (jingle bells on the film soundtrack?), Howe acoustic solo, many other tracks as well. Some of the tracks on the Yessongs record were recorded before Bruford departed, Perpetual Change, Long Distance Runaround and The Fish, to name three, none of these made it to the film and perhaps, were never filmed, only audio versions. Close to the Edge, to my ears, sounds identical on both, that may be the only track. Roundabout, All Good People, And You And I all different between the film and record.
The Bruford recordings that appear on Yessongs album make me wonder how much more of the Fragile tour may have been professionally recorded. Wakeman stated a few years ago that he moved and discovered that he had been in possession of many outtakes and live recordings, films etc... that he never even realized he had. Hopefully some of that stuff will begin to see the light of day.
Wish I could access the archives on this band to see what else may be lying around.

Like Mr. Scott......I am a HUGE fan of Gentle Giant. I was "Turned On" to them back when I was in high school.
Start with an album called---"In A Glass House". If you like that one, then you should enjoy ALL or most of the rest of them---EXCEPT for "Giant For A Day", don't bother with that one or any album that followed it.
One thing I can say is.....they are NOTHING like anything you've ever heard before!!!!!!
Going back now to possibly 1976 I'm pretty sure the first Emanuelle film soundtrack starring Sylvia Kristel was played on a Ric! (You Tube Search: Pierre Bachelet)
Not something I listen to now (but I do still have the soundtrack on vinyl!) If I'm not very much mistaken that is a classic Ric tone!
