I was apparently overthinking the post --- no problem--all is WELL
I do forget, sometimes, that a newer generation of cats are into Ricks, and alot of those guys may not know the artists that so influenced me.....
Thanks to you and JMK for for your time and attention!
Well, you originally quoted my response and I was kidding around, too. I think I may have a few years on you, Gee. Once again, great job on your cover. Tom
Back in Junior High, I learned just about everything Glen was recording. His "Goodtime Hour" was all over CBS, and I was already a fan thanks to the earlier "The 12 String Guitar of Glen Campbell" Album (which got me hooked on 12strings as a young teen), and for a non-jock like me in a sports-centric school, being able to perform popular songs was one of the few ways to attract the young ladies. But I digress.
It suited my voice at the time, so all I did was retune down a half-step, then drop the E-string a full tone (Db). It wasn`t perfect, but I figured at the time that Glen had done something similar and never gave it much more thought. It never dawned on me that he had played both solos on a "bass".
Today, I learned something new.
Not a wasted day at all, as my grandmother used to say!
Hope I'm not going to stir up a controversy, but Carol Kaye has several times stated that Glen Campbell borrowed her Danelectro 6-string bass for either Galveston or Wichita Lineman (or maybe both - I forget).
