unusual 1973 high-gain bass pickup?

Post by Sir Ricardo »

Hello.......

I took this high-gain pickup off of my early 1973 4001 - - I swapped in a toaster. Check it out, it has lateral "raised areas" in its top plastic surface. You can see them, one on each side of the poles.

I don't think I've seen that before on a high-gain pickup (or maybe I have, and just didn't notice).

Have you guys seen one of these before?

I realize this is totally arcane, I'm just curious.

By the way, its resistance was around 11.6k, vs. the lower resistance toaster the bass now has.

best - Richard

That is a more recent higain, not original to a '73 4001. The 73's had a toaster pickup in the neck position until about November of that year.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

So that's why it looked so unusual to me...... IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO BEGIN WITH!

noto76 has one of those '90's higains in his '76. great for re"gaining" some lost magnetic reach due to the off the body fretboards.
