Hmm, missing quite few, I see. For example, they are missing, Joey, Erik, me, Kevin, John, and a bunch of other well know Rick bass wielding players.

Re: Ric Bass Users
Missing a few, and one in there that shouldn't be: Peter Hook. Tho' he's one of my all-time fave bassists, and the one I get compared to most, he played a Hondo 4001 copy(and a Yamaha) in JD, never the real deal.

Another couple of anomalies are Jim Lea (Slade) - this is a John Birch Ric lookalike, and Patrick Oliver of Hot Chocolate (this may also be by John Birch).iamthebassman wrote:Missing a few, and one in there that shouldn't be: Peter Hook. Bill Nye,the Science guy??!!
Re: Ric Bass Users
Agree their definition of Ric players is a little, generous!
Andre 3000? Once in the video!
I think some of the others are more bass players pictured with a Ric as oppose to players known for their Rics.
Nice feature anyway - thanks for posting- enjoyed some nice pictures in there....Gaye Advert for one!

Yes, he's definitely a 'cut' above the rest!
Re: Ric Bass Users
And Gary Strater from Starcastle is a big omission.

The Kajagoogoo guy looks like he is wearing a leather smock with no sleeves. Too Shy Shy Hush Hush Eye To Eye. They don't write lyrics like that any more.

Nick Beggs likes to wear that leather kilt.08 Ric 4003 wrote:The Kajagoogoo guy looks like he is wearing a leather smock with no sleeves. Too Shy Shy Hush Hush Eye To Eye. They don't write lyrics like that any more.
Re: Ric Bass Users
Around the time I was gigging with RM DH163 I used to rub shoulders with the guys from
Magazine and New Order around gigs and rehearsals in Manchester.
At the time they both had copies but I had the real thing and a Fender Bassman 100 stack.
I actually wanted to join Magazine because I thought my bass would sound better!
Great band and great talent.
I think Peter Hook bought a real Rick around 1980 or thereabouts.
I bumped into Peter Hook recently and we got talking about basses we used to own and I mentioned the Gibb bass
and how smug I was that he only had a ****** copy.
He has recently been buying basses he used to own in the early days when just starting out.
By the way he said Yes were one of his favourite bands and its a safe bet thats where he first heard flanged/chorous bass.
I need to get a Hofner tele shaped short scale bass one of these days to re-live my first days of playing bass.
Sounded great through our record player!
That chart needs to be on this forum.
