My new part-time gig! (Smithereens & Rickenbacker content)
Announced elsewhere, now announcing here: I'm sitting in with The Smithereens on Friday night in Johnstown, PA, on bass. (Not on the mighty PW 2030/12 bass, but my ragged '75 4001 MG.)
I'm the new bench-warmer when the usual back-up bass player can't make it.
This will be at a big festival, with no soundcheck or rehearsal. Needless to say, I'm terrified.

Good luck Kenny! If you get a chance, check out John Howie Jr & The Rosewood Bluff. They're playing Friday night with you. They're friends of mine with a cute girl on bass that switches between a 4001 and an upright.

Very cool! Have a great time, I'm sure you'll do fine!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Good Luck Kenny! You'll do fine, and have fun to boot!
Smithereens songs are a blast to play! I've always enjoyed playing them in my bands. In one of them, we used to play "Behind The Wall OF Sleep" as a show opener. It was a great way to kick things into gear.

I'm sure you'll do fine...no worries!

Anyone live nearby (Pittsburgh, etc.)?
Re: My new part-time gig! (Smithereens & Rickenbacker content)
Jim Boyle does, I think there are some others around central-ish Pa.. too.

That's a great band! "A Girl Like You" is still a power pop fave of mine! Congrats!
