Having an opportunity to look at both pics, what jumped out at me are the heels - My pic is squared, the damaged one is round. So the bass in my picture is one of the unharmed models.jingle_jangle wrote:...The bass I am working on appears to be a different one from the one shown in Jim's stage photo. There are variations in the art in the portrait and in the background, going from photos alone....

Though you are fake You still look pretty good as an instrument stand. Are you available at the same price as a real one?gareth wrote:Damn that looks sexy.

Re: FISH OUT OF WATER, DRYING OUT...
The quick story is this.
Chris asked me to restore the bass but said since the artwork could not be duplicated properly, just spray it all black.
I thought this was a shame so asked him how quickly he wanted it. He said it just did not matter as he has plenty of basses to use!
Naturally I was thinking of Paul; we certainly couldn't do this kind of work but I know that Paul would do it right, certainly one of the few besides the original artist (who is no longer available).
It is, indeed, one of several that were done for charity auction in the UK. They were made from a variety of 4001C, 4001V and standard 4003 bodies that were otherwise collecting dust due to unattractive woodgrain. I donated the bodies and parts, the artist donated the time, and a luthier in the UK put them together.
Not much more to tell, except to see how the restoration unfolds. Anything would be better than black but I know it'll be spectacular.

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

The man's gigging bass is a Shadow, so I wouldn't worry much about that, CJ.cjj wrote:What, no love for Jetglo????

Definitely gotta be certain of the hands you put your restoration in. I'm quite sure this will not be the outcome.
