Good Chorus pedal

Post by david/wales/u.k »

Can anyone recommend a good chorus pedal or possibly a chorus with reverb combination pedal. I know the Ce-2 is highly recommended but i would prefer one that hasn't been discontinued.

MXR Analog Chorus. Wonderful, lush sound and the stereo mode sounds very expansive.

Jack Deville Mod Zero is a great sounding pedal with tons of tweakability to give you other modulation effects and you can customize the sound to suit your needs. Very warm, fat, organic sounds here.

I just bought a second MIJ CE2 on craigslist for $25. You can find them if you troll around looking for deals.

The Electro Harmonix small clone sounds nice......I quite like the Mxr one as well........I like boss pedals but the ch-1 and ce-5 don't impress me much.

Why? Price? The CE-2 is one of the best. Far better than a CE-5 or CH-1. Get a CE-3 if you want a stereo version of the CE-2, with the option of true stereo mode that the CE-5 and CH-1 don't have (they are just effect + dry).

The prices on ebay are quite reasonable ( there is one on ebay for £35 - ($54) and yet others are far more expensive........not quite sure why there is such a disparity in price when they all say that they're in good condition. I just think the fact that they stopped making them in 1982 puts me off. I mean, how long can a piece of electronic equipment last? ( I got scruples about buying second hand but that's me )

Usually the ones made in Taiwan are cheaper than those MIJ. They also produced the CE-2 well into the 90's, they just weren't advertised. As far as how long can a piece of electronic equipment last, my main amp is a 1959 Bassman. Boss stuff is incredibly hardy, it's very hard to break. My CE-2 is from 82 and it's working like a champ, no need to worry.

I have 3 MIT CE-2's all from well after '82 and they all work great. I've even modded 2 of them to have brighter LED's and accept PSA (vs ACA) power supplies, and one of those I had vibrato and volume switches added to.
