Fender Tube Reverb

Post by valco »

Just bought a used Fender Tube Reverb RI on line from a well known dealer. I have wanted one for ever but they have always [even in the 60's] been pricey. What put this over the top was that I was able to trade in a few stomp boxes I was'nt really using, so not a lot of cash involved. So I have to wait for the shipping both ways, that's the hard part. I'll report back. Does any Forum member use one of these with they're Ric ?

IIRC, a Blackface tube reverb was used at SCARF '10 and run through Paulie's AC-30 HW. Who brought it, I can't remember, but Paulie may know better as it was run through his amp. I just remember when surf music was played...tone to die for 8)

Nice score, Kelly.

I eschew nearly all effects, but Fender tube reverb is the truth. 8)

I have A Fender blonde/brown face RI tube reverb unit; it's the same internally as the Black Face unit. It sounds great, but I got tired of having to plug something else in and run another footswitch, so I bought a Van Amps "Sole Mate" spring reverb unit that fits in my pedal board. It's not tube, but it gets the sound!
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

Thanks guys. All my playing is done in my basement when my wife isn'y home so transport and set up isn't an issue. Recently, I have been re-visiting Surf and Rockabilly. This one is a recent brown tolex and along wit a Carbon Copy delay, a Telecaster and my 360-12 it should be a lot of fun. Keep the comments and suggestions comming

I'm using the Van Amps Sole-Mate Reverb with my AC-30 and it does a good job of nailing the reverb sound I get from my mid-60's Fender Deluxe Reverb. I've been so happy with it that I haven't played through the Deluxe Reverb for a couple of weeks now.

Yep! That's why I bought my sole mate; I have a few Fender amps, but I usually gig with my AC 30s, and two of the three lack reverb, while the third's unit is too "boingy"; I need to replace it with an Accutronics unit like the Fender Twin has.

Just a quick update, the Tube Reverb is a very cool unit. Very 'old school' but that's part of the appeal. I'm rockin' the oldies. Later, Kats.

I have an original 1963 Fender Reverb unit..don't use it much.

Owned a nice 67 Deluxe couple of years ago, IMHO the Reverb unit sounded much nicer.
