Allen wrench access to saddle screws on 360 v64

Post by ssbeeb »

They are facing away from the bridge pickup so there is not enough room to get any of my allen wrenches in between the pickup and the screw head so that I can adjust them. I just got it back from the shop and noticed that one of the screws has come completely unthreaded. Did he install the bridge backwards or something or is this normal? Where can I find an Allen wrench that will work? Thanks for reading.

Sounds like your tech may have put the bridge on backwards. The bolt heads should be facing out the back of the bridge, toward the tailpiece.

If you have a vise, you could adapt an allen wrench. Just put a 90 degree bend on one end at about a 1/4 inch. That should give you enough clearance. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, you'll probably just want to turn the bridge back around.

That's what I figured. I might just take it back in tomorrow to the tech. Good idea on making my own allen wrench. Thanks!

Allen wrench access to saddle screws on 360 v64

Edd --- the same thing happened to me on two of the last three Rics that I purchased second-hand.
An unexperienced prior-owner changing the strings, at some point in the guitar's history and the bridge comes free when the tension is released on the strings and they insert the Bridge back on, not realizing the "direction" the adjustment screw heads should be facing. :?

Yep, that's what happened here. I just got this through ebay a couple months ago...
