OK, I am officially addicted....shocker....
I have three Ric 4003's from 2010, 2011 and 2012 nd I have a 2006 Ric 330. AND I WANT MORE! What is wrong with me????? I am trying to figure out how I can manage another 4003 or possibly a 360 12! I do not know what it is but I am just nuts about these instruments. I am sure I have some COD issues but I guess this is the right place to talk about seeing the collections that some of you all have..... some folks make crcks to me like how many f the same bass do you need... Well in my opinion, none of my basses sound nor play exactly the same. There are things I like about each one of them and they all seem to have somewhat of their own musical personality from tone to the feel of the neck. Maybe that is the handmade aspect of a regular production instrument. And then when you add the aspect of how different sets and types of strings can affect the tone...the possibilities are limitless.... I need help...

Yup. OCD. I know it well! What's wrong with you? If you find out them please let me know since I think I have the same thing "wrong" with me as well. You won't get any help from anyone here with that since everyone here, myself included, is an enabler!
I came here a year and half ago with one 2011 4003 and now I have 7 RIC basses. It started out with "all I need is an early 70's 4001 and I'll be happy". Check that off the list then, "all I need is a Blackstar and I'll be happy". Ok, check that off the list then, "All I need is something with a horseshoe on it and I'll be happy". See the pattern here? Look familiar?? I just added a 4002 and I'm really worried where I go from here!!

SEVEN!!!! That sounds like a heavenly number of Ric basses. I could have one for each day of the week. What I want now is I would really like to have a Ruby, the Midnight Blue and the Autumglo 4003's. I also like the RI 4001S's (I know that is not the right name for them but I cant remember it right now) in any color and I would love to score and older 4001 in either White or Mapleglo. Any pics of all seven of them together? I am sick I tell ya....

Scott,
7 is not a round number and it's making me twitch!! I'm joking!! My OCD is not that bad! Each one of them plays and sounds differently so it's easy for me to justify them, at least that is what i tell myself. I do manage to play all of them at least once during the week. I do find myself reaching for my 2011 JG when I'm experimenting with something or noodling. I feel really connected to all of them. Initially I purchased the Shadow to make it a BEAD bass but after getting it, I lover the way it played and sounded so I could not change her.
About the only bass I find myself not fully vested in is Snow White. I mean she sounds great with her original horseshoe (rewound by Sergio pup) but out of all my basses, she gets the least "love".
Brian, I specifically did not mention an LK, because I know where to find one, and I really can't go there right now. As much as I'd love to.
I did not tell me wife about the 4002 purchase. My kids both noticed the "new axe" but my wife was oblivious. The other day I was screwing around with the 4002 in the living room and had her through my Orange AD200b and 4x10 cab. She said, "wow, that sounds really nice" unlike when she's screaming at me to lower the volume when I'm practicing upstairs through my 100w practice amp. My son piped in, "well it should, he's playing his new 4002 bass." To my surprise she was not upset. She just said, she did not care that I purchased a new guitar, I should have told her about it. She then commented how "pretty" it looked. Yeah, she's a keeper!!

LOL,
My wife USED to wonder into my office and COUNT the cases! I then HAD to throw her off by buying EMPTY cases and later, FILLING THEM by buying RICS without cases!
She ALWAYS knew, she just let me THINK I was pulling one over on her!

BTW, here is an old picture of my basses (13 at that time) and it is out of date by a few basses ... and I'm not even a real bass player!
