Thanks gang. I will take pics when I get it. Also, since I am new to Ricks, what are the best strings to use for new versus vintage. I have a 1969 420, 1987 610 (coming) and the new 330 (coming). There is probably a post about this but I couldn't find it by searching.

Thanks again

You didn't cave. You made a wise decision. Good luck and congrats. Fireglo 330 is as classic as it gets.

You wish you knew where they could be had for $1,400? All you had to do was ask. But if you pulled off a new one for $1,529 that's not bad at all. About $70 more than I paid for mine. Not a big deal. You did fine.

Hmmm, a 620 going for $1,189. And everyone thinks Rics are so out of reach. That price can tempt anyone.

Let's see the pics of your new 330 when you get her.

There's a place in Jersey called Pick Of The Ricks. The guy named Chris who runs it is as helpful and efficient as anyone can be. He knows Rics, he deals Rics, he's many Ric player's first choice for all things Ric.

He has a good variety of strings (even custom sets) for any sound you may be after - vintage, modern, bright, mellow vintage, whatever. I went with a never-before-heard-of by me Curt Mangan set of nicklewounds for my Ric 330 because I was looking for bright. They give it to me.

Here's a link to a string page, but he's easy to reach over the phone and very helpful:

Hey gang,

Cancelled my order with Musiciansfriend. I am going to give my business to Chris at Pickofricks instead. I would rather give my business to a recommended resource.

Thanks again

Wow. I was going to suggest that, but figured it would be too much of a hassle to nix the Musician'sFriend order.

Pick Of The Ricks was fantastic to deal with. Chris will set up the guitar so it arrives perfect. Plus if you are in Pennsylvania the guitar will arrive to you in one or two days (less time sitting in the back of a truck). Can't go wrong with Pick Of The Ricks. The prices and service are both great.

And ask about the three month payment plan. I put down $800 cash on the first payment and the other two payments were just three hundred put on a credit card. Made buying a Ric a snap.

+1 to this. I was steered to PoTR on the recommendation of many here, and was not disappointed.

You'll enjoy doing business with POTR, Harry. Chris Clayton is one of a handful of Ric experts in the country. He has great prices, and your guitar will arrive with a spot-on setup. POTR is also a great place from which to order strings and parts. Please post some photos and let us know how the guitar plays and sounds when it arrives. 8)
