'86 360 vs. '08 330
I have a chance to buy an '86 jetglo 360 for $125 less than an '08 fireglo 330 both are excellent examples of the jetglo and fireglo finishes. The 330 is mint and the 86 360 is in excellent/very good shape with nice aged binding and inlays, plus it has the cool older case. Is there any reason to go with one over the other? I love fire glow when it's done right, but black....er jetglo is up there as far as finishes go for me. I love binding too. As far as the age goes, is one better than the other? I eventually want to get toasters, and would have more of a problem cutting into the '86. Oh well, now I'm rambling. Advice?

Have you had a chance to play them? That would be the decider for me. Market values are probably similar, recent FG 330s are readily available. The 360 JG 86 a bit more rare.
You won't have to "cut into" either guitar to substitute toasters. The footprint of both PUs is the same. I do think hi-gains are a good choice for Rick 6-strings, scatterwound toasters for 12-strings.
EDIT: Or you can leave the hi-gain at bridge position, put a toaster in at neck. See discussion at: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=407135
I would go with the 360, but play them (if possible) and then decide.

86 no contest for me. Love those mid 80's necks. '00's... not so much.

I can't play them. I haven't seen a Rickenbacker in Spokane, ever. I've never seen one advertised on craigslist, other than my 330 in '08.
So the mid 80's guitars have nice necks, huh? Interesting. Definitely leaning towards that.

Yes, much slimmer and comfortable if you like that sort of thing.
