Interesting. Notice the position of the toggle. Up as opposed to Beatle years 4001S.
Re: McCartney's fretless Rick??
It is debated that Paul had a reverse toggle switch. I don't really know the definative answer.byu wrote:Interesting. Notice the position of the toggle. Up as opposed to Beatle years 4001S.

IMO, Paul's 4001S had a "right-hand" wiring harness. That would make the down position the toaster.
I'm convinced "Love in Song" was done with a FL.

Funny how the brain works. I misread this post the first time and thought you said "Silly Love Songs". Intrigued, I listened to it over and over until i was convinced it had to be a fretless. Went to post on this thread and found that you were talking about a different song.teeder wrote:IMO, Paul's 4001S had a "right-hand" wiring harness. That would make the down position the toaster.

I'll have to listen to Silly Love Songs over and over now!

To my eyes,it looks like the toggle is in the middle position in that photo.

Re: McCartney's fretless Rick??
It's hard to tell, but I'd tend to agree that it's in the middle position. Which would make some sense. The 4001FL sounds quite a bit different than a fretted 4001 in terms of the effect of adding in the bridge PU. I could see PM liking both PUs on the FL even if he preferred the toaster on his 4001S.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?
Re: McCartney's fretless Rick??
I've never seen this photo either. Interesting...
