An Ibanez? :?
You're on to me!

Yeh thanks Kev, now we have to wait too
Sorry! I didn't mean to drag it out this long.

I may as well spill the beans. It's a '67 RM1999. Currently at Larry Davis's shop getting a re-fin and assembled. Mark Walker is modifying a lap-steel HS for it, too, which is on route from Mark to Larry today. Pretty sure the last remaining part that "we're" waiting on is a guard from Pickguardian.

Here it is pre-color.

I wanted to go MG, but there was too much red staining in the end-grain, so elected to go with a '67 spec FG which is what it originally was anyway. I think it will be fine.

It was missing the original HS. Mark Walker is making one from a lap-steel.

That looks very nice, Kevin! The orange colour bursts are my favorite version of fireglo.
Can't wait to see the finished product!
Who painted it by the way?

Very very nice, Kev. Has it arrived yet? More finished pics? It has such beautiful maple it is a shame the ends still showed red. Makes one helluva FG too though. Do we get the story of how you found it?

Congrats!

[quote="johnallg"] Do we get the story of how you found it? quote]

Back in late summer, my brother, who lives a couple minutes from Larry Davis and knows how bad I've wanted one of these, gives me a call on a Sunday that he was over at Larry's and there was a RM in for a re-fin. He couldn't stop raving over the neck! He didn't know anything else about it. I suspected it may have been one of Andy's RM's (assuming it wasn't the Gibbs bass! ). Monday comes around and there's an email from Andy asking if I would be interested in a RM! The furthest back "we" can trace it is from a luthier in Canada.
