Clatter Visit

Post by 4003 »

Amy Humphrey and Joe Hayes from Clatter stayed at my house for a couple of days while they were in town doing a 2-day music teaching/performance event at the local middle school. I got the opportunity to jam with her and pretty much talked all things Rickenbacker while she was here. Here are some photos:

Very cool, Bob! I wonder if they'll be coming to my area for any shows.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Amy is such a good bass player , she was kind enough to leave a review of my playing here. http://soundcloud.com/george-lynch/mind-bender

What? No pics of Joe?

Joe's cool too.

And yes, Amy is cool as well. I think she sent me a Geddy pic with my CDs when I bought them.

Love firing up Sync on the car and saying, "Play artist, Clatter" and the car just knowing...

It just knows man.

OK sorry for my kack of "hipness" I have no idea who Clatter is. After the usual Google search I listened to some clips and it sounds decent enough. Is Amy a Rick player or do the basses shown belong to Bob the thread author's ? Clatter song clips sounf Rick-enough to me.

Amy has two rickenbacker basses run in stereo. she has a fantastic tone and an excellent player, she is doing all the work with husband joe who is the drummer. very inspirational .

Amy is very much a Rick bassist. I believe she currently has 3: 4003, 4001 and a fretless. The one in her left hand is her 4003, the others are mine. Her last three albums were recorded mostly with the Rickenbackers. She also plays a few Waterstone basses and noteably uses the 12-string bass (behind me in the stage photo) on several songs including the cover of Rush's "Limelight" from the Monarch album.

A little bird told me (literally!) that you guys were chatting about our Indiana visit! Bob failed to post the coolest pic of the whole weekend, which I've attached. Bob and his wife Kathy treated us like royalty! And roadied, too!!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! We have a couple more shows – Nov. 2 in Chicago and Nov. 3 in Champaign – then that will probably be it for live performances for Clatter. It's been a fun ride!

And here are a few great ones of Bob onstage with Joe; poor Bob had to deal with my short strap!

Listening to your clips I would ask why you plan to stop with this project? I like the sound and it seems like a worthy endeavor.

Thanks! :) I'm sure Clatter will live on in some regard – we're married, after all!! :) – but touring requires quite a financial outlay with little return, and since we're an independent band, all that comes directly out of our pockets. So even though we love to play live more than anything else, it's just not financially feasible for us any more. :( Maybe some day that will change (I need to remember to play the lottery!) but that's where we're at for now.

I appreciate the support, though!!!! :D
