Paul....Why choose he Kahler adjustable bridge? It looks out of place on an otherwise very Rickenbacker looking 5-string. Love the red by the way, but when I looked away from my monitor, I could still see it!

He Kahler was Joshua's choice, as was he red. I agree that it would probably be better suited to a Fender due to its parallelogram styling...

I'm just wrapping up the double-bound Jetglo 4005 restoration. This bass was owned by Jeff Scott since Hector was a pup, and changed hands earlier this year. I'll get some good photos up early next week!

I'm doing a neck reset and refin on a '66 360-12, a double-bound conversion with checkerboard and BB paint on a recent 330, a very special 381 project, a special bass for Paul Yan, a Honeyglo '73 4001 for Mr. Simer, and so on...there are also several acoustics in the works, first a 700C-12 for Jesus Padilla in Spain, then a birdseye maple 700 for a Stateside customer, and another 700C-12 for Mr. O'Keefe; I've got another LS conversion of a 330 happening, too. I'm also working on a couple of old '40s archtop--one a Rick SP that's about half done, and the other a Harmony; both circa 1946-8.

I have a '59 Capri in works and 2 F-body restos (one for Schtutzi in Austria!) that need new necks. And lots more that is somewhere in the back on my mind, though in the front of my shop fer sure.

...and it looks like a movie crew is heading up to the Bay Area in early November to interview me for an upcoming documentary film on guitar builders and their instruments.

I gave Paul a handful of suggestions that would support the necessary string spacing before starting the project. The Kahler came out on top. There was a Schaller model (not the one on 4004s--it wouldn't have worked) that was a close second. I'm really happy we went with the Kahler in the end. Maybe not going to please everyone, but I rather like the look of it.

I think it looks nice with the Kahler, and from what i've heard functionality is top notch. There are plenty of Rickenbacker basses out there with standard Rick tailpieces, why be the same as everyone else.

Thanks Erik!! That's exactly how I felt. I didn't want to use the standard S/5 tailpiece.

Anyway, let's not derail the thread any more (if you want to tell me how bad my taste in tailpieces is let's keep it to private messages from now on) so we can focus on more of Paul's awesome work!
