That seems awfully high, but I guess you have to account for duties and accesibility, etc. overseas. The Buy it Now seems to be about double the US going rate.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

this is what they say in the auction: "super rare Rickenbacker 4001 v 64 Bass"
did Rickenbacker produce a super rare V64?? this might justify the high price

Nope. Music Ground just likes to play the 'rare' and 'vintage' cards as much as possible.

Ted's right.Music Ground are well known for vastly inflated prices. I used to work near the shop in Leeds and would call in during my lunch hour to laugh at the prices. Saying that, someone must buy off them cause they're still in business

So that shop sounds like a "super rare expensive" one :-)

That's a beautiful fireglo V63, but I won't pay that price for one.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

For that money, I could sell my Mapleglo v63 for $2k and both parties would come out ahead.

...Oh, and notice the damaged TRC. The backprint is torn in places, with some attempts at patching up.

I know the story behind this. I spoke to someone at Music Ground recently and he told me they bought 2 f/glo V63s, new old stock from a shop in Japan. They paid £700 for each of them. So that's a £1099 mark up....this is the sort of b*llsh*t (sorry about the language) that we have to put up with in the UK. It makes me so angry. I paid £1050 for my V63 and considered it a steal as UK prices go (which it wasn't, but it was certainly fair, especially looking at this!). I know another Forum member who got his comfortably cheaper, but I've never seen one under a grand, no matter what condition. That's why I bought my first V63 from the US, only to have it disappear in to the ether on the way here....

Hi Ken

No, never got it back (never got it at all!). Bought it off e-bay, it was posted via USPS (BIG mistake; was my first e-bay purchase so I didn't know)and never arrived. The seller was extremely helpful but it was never found and the insurance claim took almost a year to sort out; what made things worse was the exchange rate had changed so much I lost around £200 ($400) on the transaction! Serial number was K4-4926, just in case it ever turns up....

The bottom pic shows the only blemish on this guy. If you can live with that, you'll love this bass.

Nice bass Mark; I must admit I prefer fireglo to mapleglo....
