4000 on Ebay
This would be interesting except it's coming from Germany. I'd bet the shipping would astronomical and there's no way I could convince anyone in my company that I need to go an a business trip to Stuttgart.

If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Habe beantwortet means literally "have answered". I don't know if that means that he answered off line (missing the point of posting the question in the first place) or if he feels the question was answered in the auction. The question in german is from someone in the UK asking what the shipping cost would be.
That means "answered" Phil. He replied to my question straight away. The finish seems too good to be true and I wasn,t sure about the blue on the rods. Thought it might be overspray from a refin. I need to ask a couple more questions.
Pre 73 A/G,s are pretty thin on the ground in any model and if there,s another 4000 in this finish I,d be surprised, let alone in this condition. Is it an original finish? This is the only factor here.
It,s pricey, but I thought that when I payed the same amount for my EX+ 68 4001 two years ago and look where they are now.

As UK prices go I'm not too sure it is particularly pricey for a 72 thru-neck, certainly assuming the finish is original. How many azures can there be? I've seen fairly run of the mill '73 and later 4000 basses go for around £1k in UK guitar shops. If that's original azure (heck even if its not) I want it! (azure...my favourite colour). Unfortunately haven't got the readies (why are German auctions always "wire transfer"? What happened to credit cards and Paypal?
Seriously though, if any UK members will buy my '98 mapleglo V63 reissue (in as new condition), offers around £1k, I'm having it! BTW I take Paypal! Just hurry up so I don't miss it! Of course someone else is bound to pull the trigger way before I get there....

Yeah Shaun...I saw a 73 or 74 4000 F/G in so-so shape in Denmark St a couple of years ago for 1100 pounds. This is a steal for you U.K. boys IF all original.
I,ve held off because of the 4002 ( why does all the cool stuff come up at the same time...) and by thinking that if it looks too good to be true it probably is...but you never know.
BTW, if Mr Azureglo aka Simon Mole sees it, it will be gone!
