ANOTHER String Thread....
Do I want TI JF344 or JF324 flats? Anyone remember what the RIC (Maxima) string gauges were?
Re: ANOTHER String Thread....
344, 324 are 32" scale length.
34 for scale length, the the second 4 is for 4 strings. The TIs come in one gauge only.

I didn't look that close..... I did know about the 3rd digit. The 324 set is heavier - the E is .106. Thanks for the info.jps wrote:344, 324 are 32" scale length.

Now, anybody got a decent used set cut for a Rick they want to part with?

From a used set of Maximas I have sitting around-johnallg wrote:Do I want TI JF344 or JF324 flats? Anyone remember what the RIC (Maxima) string gauges were?
.044, .057, .078, and .101.
The TIs are lower tension than the Maximas if you can believe it...
If you're looking for the "feel" of the Maximas, the Optima 4099s are the way to go, but they sound like very broken in Maximas.
For some reason, I find the .080 A that the Optimas have is a little thick compared to the rest of the set.
Optima is making up some sets for me with a .075 A.
I'll report on the result.
The TIs are brighter.
But, I seem to be liking the Optimas on the basses that the rods are working and the neck hasn't lifted.

That will be interesting. Did you order directly from Optima in Germany?chefothefuture wrote:If you're looking for the "feel" of the Maximas, the Optima 4099s are the way to go, but they sound like very broken in Maximas.

Thanks. John. I love the feel and tone of the NOS Maxima set I have and was hoping to get close. Where are you getting your Optimas?chefothefuture wrote:From a used set of Maximas I have sitting around-johnallg wrote:Do I want TI JF344 or JF324 flats?
